Process / Manufacturing Engineer – Metals

ROLE OVERVIEW

Process / Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing and continuous improvement processes. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, flow of production & shipping processes, and quality control standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Works with planning and engineering concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Estimates production times, and related costs to provide information for Capital or Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Responsible for writing CARs related to Capital Projects for Operations
  • Directs and coordinates capital budget/spending, Lean and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Provides root cause analysis and assists with problem solving for production process issues.
  • Provides oversight to personnel involved in design of tools and fixtures.
  • Identify, justify and implement new manufacturing technology and replacement machinery.
  • Works with suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Oversee the setup of new equipment, ensure satisfactory operation, and instruct others to use the new equipment properly.
  • Involvement in Lean initiatives up to and including providing oversight to teams and or leading/participating in initiatives around Standard Work, Kaizen, Flow, TPM, etc.
  • Work as an operational liaison with supply chain pertaining to outsourcing initiatives for new products and existing products with focus on supplier evaluations, certifications, PPAP process etc.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Years of Experience: Previous experience (5+ years) as a manufacturing engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment involving the following equipment/processes: Welding, robotics, industrial electrical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, coil slitting, presses (mechanical and hydraulic), AC/DC drives, AC power distribution, Machining (CNC & Manual), plasma/oxy fuel cutting and OH cranes.
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Applications; expertise in Excel and other data management tools as well as PowerPoint

COMPENSATION

A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes a base salary plus performance-based bonus.
