ROLE OVERVIEW
The Merchandising Manager will play an integral role in managing the core wholesale product line development process. This individual will be responsible for developing assortment frameworks and consumer centered product briefs that address their deep understanding of the target consumers, specialty channels and competitive set. This individual must exude passion for product and have excellent communication and presentation skills. The successful candidate must be an influential servant leader and collaborative teammate. The candidate must be highly organized and demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as a high level of attention to detail. This role functions on a hybrid schedule and is located full time in Barbados.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide briefs and frameworks which give clear product direction and information to development and design partners.
- Manage and execute designated calendar milestones from design brief to product launches.
- Provide clear direction on all financial drivers to meet margin requirements set by activewear leadership.
- Responsible for sales/customer presentations, both internally and externally to key retailers, internal stakeholders and wholesalers as needed.
- Ensure seamless interaction to deliver a product line that is designed, developed and manufactured to meet product requirements, market needs, margin goals, and calendar timelines.
- Using POS data, or grassroots consumer research to identify trends and market opportunities that create a competitive edge.
- Develop seasonal product presentations to communicate market trends, color strategies, and product features and benefits.
- Resolve process issues and recommend ways to continually improve the interaction of team members as well as process efficiencies.
- Lead new and innovative ways of working including 3D, virtual product, and social media.
- Directs and coordinates all on information on merchandise and design with Licensee groups.
- Lead teams including PLM / APLM through product development process and ensure timely completion of tasks in relation to PDD or Merchandising calendar.
REQUIREMENTS
- University degree, preferably in Apparel Design, Merchandising, and Business Administration.
- 7+ years of experience in the activewear, apparel or garment industry with at least 3 years of management experience with direct reports.
- Understanding of apparel development and garment manufacturing processes, including fabrics and materials sourcing, fabrication and fit of garments.
- International travel experience, entrepreneurial and business minded, with prior Ex-Pat experience a plus.
- Creativity and passion for product.
COMPENSATION
A competitive compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes an excellent base salary along with a performance-based bonus and a full Ex-Pat package.
