ROLE OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing Human Resources and Payroll related duties on a professional level working closely with Sr. HR management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fulfill backup role for multi-state payroll processing on a weekly and bi-weekly basis, including gathering and accurately processing payroll data such as hours, taxes, deductions, and union dues, as well as generating, executing, and analyzing payroll reports.
- Oversee and maintain HR database, including adding new hires, processing changes, terminations, verifying I-9 documentation, and conducting regular audits.
- Interpret and implement company payroll policies and government regulations.
- Coordinate all aspects of employee benefits, including open enrollments, training, annual plan review/renewal, addressing inquiries, coordinating meetings, and administering monthly invoices.
- Produce month-end reports for HR and Accounting departments.
- Conduct audits of HR programs, recommend corrective actions, and assist with FMLA, ADA leave, and compliance administration.
- Address employee issues, complaints, and investigations, providing solutions while staying updated on HR trends, practices, and multi-state compliance.
- Support recruiting process, including identifying candidates, reference checks, employment contracts, new hire orientations, and onboarding coordination.
- Assist in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, evaluations, training initiatives, and special projects/presentations.
- Foster positive employee relations by organizing morale-boosting events and maintaining updated intranet and ADP site information.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years in a human resources function, preferably with general understanding of Payroll and experience working with Union employees.
- Working knowledge of ADP and Payroll systems highly advantageous.
- Manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency in computer software applications (Windows, Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Word).
- High-level interpersonal skills to handle sensitive, confidential situations/documentation discreetly and professionally, while maintaining strict confidentiality, is mandatory.
- A deep understanding of Labor Law and employment equity regulations to ensure compliance is necessary.
- Bachelor’s, Associate’s, PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
COMPENSATION
A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes a base salary plus performance-based bonus.
